I was up and at ’em yesterday morning, determined to get my workout in before the nasty weather moved in. I hopped on the treadmill and completed the Couch to 5k Week 2 Day 2. I was planning to stop there, but I looked over during my cooldown and Peanut was sound asleep in her carseat. I decided to take advantage of the non-fussy time and squeeze in some upper body. That’s one thing I’ve learned since becoming a mom, but I think it applies to everyone. It’s easy to say “I don’t have time to exercise.” The trick is not wasting a single second of the day when you *do* have time, even if it means 5 minutes of handweights or squats and lunges. Those little bits here and there can really add up throughout the day.
I did 3×12 of these exercises:
~tricep kickbacks with 5lbs.
~lateral raises with 5lbs.
~bent over rows with 8lbs.
~curl & press with 8lbs.
~front raises with 8lbs.
…and stretching which felt SOOOOO good. I think that’s really my favorite part of every workout.
Workout Time: 54:13
Calories burned: 514
Post-workout lunch was yummy!
~whole wheat wrap with chicken, tomato and a wedge of Laughing Cow Light Swiss
~salad with tomato, a little jalapeno pepper and Ken’s Healthy Options Honey Dijon dressing
~homemade vegetable barley soup
~a cup of Tazo Awake tea
The soup was so good it deserves its own closeup:
A good workout, a good meal and bad weather always make me motivated to do housework. First I tackled laundry. Then the kitchen. Then my bathroom. It felt good to get caught up on some areas I’d neglected while visiting my mom.
My husband made some absolutely delicious pizza burgers for dinner complete with fresh mozzarella. Good cheese really does make a big difference in my opinion.
I needed veggies so we added a side of steamed broccoli.
By nightfall we had several inches of snow and it was still coming down. I spent the majority of the evening curled up in the chair with Peanut and a hot cup of tea. My husband and I watched this week’s episode of The Biggest Loser. He likes to watch NCIS on Tuesday nights, but thankfully Fine Living Network re-airs the most current episode of BL on Friday night. I know you’re thinking “just DVR it,” but we’re old school and we don’t have such advanced technology in this house. 🙂
I know there are lots of people out there who were hit with this storm. Everyone stay warm and safe!
What’s your favorite kind of cheese?
